Pitching the Value Survey

MESSAGE BELOW FROM CAMC HQ FOR CIRCULATION TO MEMBERS
Following a recent government announcement granting English mayors the power to introduce overnight visitor levies (the "tourism tax"), proving the economic and social value of touring and camping has never been more vital.
We are writing to ask for your urgent support in completing, and encouraging our members to complete, the new Pitching the Value Survey.
What is "Pitching the Value" and the UKCCA?
The UK Caravan and Camping Alliance (UKCCA) is the collective voice representing the four major UK outdoor holiday organisations: The Camping and Caravanning Club, The Caravan and Motorhome Club, BH&HPA, and the NCC. It is the UKCCA’s flagship economic research initiative. It produces the vital independent data used to demonstrate the huge economic contribution of our sector
Who Should Complete the Survey?
We would particularly appreciate input from anyone who has stayed on a campsite or a Certificated Location (CL) recently.

Whether you stay on larger Club sites or small 5-pitch CL networks, your feedback on spending habits, trip frequency, and stay durations provides the exact real-world data needed to represent every tier of touring accommodation.
Why Your Input Matters Now
The proposed visitor levies mean that local authorities will soon look at overnight stays as a tool for local revenue generation. To protect our sector and continue promoting affordable, accessible outdoor holidays, we need robust, up-to-date regional data.
Completing the survey directly equips the Club to:
• Challenge Unfair Regional Taxation: Highlight to regional mayors and decision-makers that touring and camping visitors generate substantial off-site spend in local shops, pubs, and rural businesses, proving our sector is an economic driver, not just a tax target.
• Demonstrate Local Economic Footprint: Provide hard data showing exactly how much money our members bring into local communities during rallies and events
• Shape Club Advocacy: Ensure our policy responses accurately reflect the diversity of operations across all our divisions and centres.
• Promote Touring and Camping: Supply fresh statistics to fuel national PR campaigns that champion the value of the outdoor holiday sector to government and media alike.
