Chairman's Update December 2024 / January 2025

Monthly Overview

Firstly, I would like to wish everyone Happy New Year and hope you have been able to celebrate Christmas with your family and friends.

Although winter can be cold and wet there is also something rather special about this time of year. Not only do we celebrate Christmas, with our loved ones or cosy up to the fire, it also bring some of the most wonderful of photographs. This has been proved just with the latest entries into our monthly photo competition.

December for me see’s the scales hidden out of sight and not returned until January and no excuses needed to indulge in our favourite treats.

Rallies

Hillstown – Soul and Motown Weekend was held 15th – 17th November

We welcomed 29 arrivals to Hillstown with visitors from Nott’s and Cheshire. Soul and Motown entertainment was provided by John Hall and a quiz being won by our neighbouring centre members from Nott’s.

Weston-on-Trent – Christmas Party Rally was held 6th – 8th December

The annual Christmas Party Rally seen the hard work and dedication from the Committee members in attendance and their partners along with help from the marshals. Although down on numbers from last year the weekend went down a success with everyone enjoying themselves and getting in the party spirit. Santa even managed to make an appearance. Matlock Rugby Club – New Years Eve Rally was held 29th December – 1st January

A full annual New Year Rally was had by those who attended this year and looking at the feedback on Facebook proved it was another successful one. Members and visitors were treated to food provided by the marshals along with games and entertainment. This rally is not easy to run and take a lot of preparation and organising so a massive well done to the marshals for making it a great success.

To Finish

We are still hoping to seek a replacement Treasurer to be co-opt on to the committee to shadow our current Treasurer Simon until his retirement at the next AGM. Also as we enter into 2025’s rally programme we still are in need of some marshals and Co-Marshals to make next year’s Rally Programme be fully open for bookings, if you are interested in any then please contact our Rally Secretary for further information.

Our next committee meeting is to be held Tuesday 14th January @ 7.30pm on Teams.
