Monthly Overview
The first of the 2025 rallies are now under way and even through strong winds and storms we have managed to complete the initial three rallies of the year.
We have started to see the booking for other rallies become come through more paced a long with marshals coming forward for some of the unopened rallies.
We are still in need of marshals for other venues that are waiting to be open, this includes New Year Rally 2025, I fear if we don’t run this rally this year, we could lose the venue altogether as other centres and groups are interested in it.
Rallies
Donnington Park Farmhouse rally was held 24th – 26th January
Storm Eowyn hit the UK on the day our rally opened at Donnington Park Farmhouse, some of the ralliers cancelled but the majority braved the weather and from the responses made the weekend by many joining forces and heading the local public house with lifts provided for those in motorhomes.
Sherwood Forest Holiday Park rally was held 7 th – 9 th February
Our annual rally at Sherwood Forest Holiday Park was as popular as ever with 30 arrivals and 1 non-attender including visitors from surrounding centres. The weather was kind for this time of year and many people ventured out to visit the surrounding attractions.
The Winking Man rally was held 21st – 23rd February
The popular Winking Man Rally see all 14 bookings arrive with visitors from Cheshire Centre. Many ralliers enjoyed the kinder weather on the Saturday in between the winds to venture up into the roaches which has stunning views of Derbyshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire. All ralliers attended the Saturday evening meal arranged by the marshals, with some even trying their vocals out on the Karaoke provided by the landlord.
To Finish
At our last committee meeting I shared the news with the committee that due to organisational changes within the BT Group, I have received my official redundancy paperwork and will leave my current role at the end of March.
My priorities going forward will be to secure a new occupation and do what is needed for my family. I therefore feel I will not be able to continue and give the centre the dedication I have for the last four years, especially in my current role of Chairman and have given my intentions to step down at the next AGM.
I would urge anyone interested in taking this role on again to shadow it by being coopt onto the committee as Vice Chair with a view to becoming Chair next year. I hope you can appreciate my decision, but volunteering has to come second to work and family.
Our next committee meeting is to be held Tuesday 25th February @ 7.30pm on Teams.

Scott Wanless Chairman,
