Committee Chatterbox

Since my last blog we have held  four rallies.  Over the bank holiday weekend, we rallied at Foxton Locks, which was a new site for the Centre with 30 units attending.  It was also one of the wettest rallies I can recall, with our fire buckets filling themselves over the course of the weekend.  We had quizzes, games and bingo in the marquee on the Friday and Saturday night, with a nautical themed punch flowing freely.

This was followed by the popular Eyam Carnival rally with 28 units attending for either 2 or 3 nights, with those attending enjoying the Carnival atmosphere.   We then had the Total Rewind rally at Darley Dale, Four Lane Ends with 29 units attending and from the videos and photographs shared on the Facebook page, it looks like great fun was had with music, dancing and fancy dress.  We ended September with an extended rally at Chatsworth Golden Gates with 46 units staying for either 2 or 3 nights where we had a group walk and continental breakfast.

Thanks to all that took part in the 50/50 at Foxton where we raised £34, at Four Lane ends where we raised £42.50 and at Chatsworth where we raised £50.    

The 50/50 draws have been a great help this year to make up the deficit of the grant, and the new Committee will make a decision after the AGM if they will continue them next year. 

We introduced some temporary guidance prior to the rally at Foxton to reduce the risk associated with charcoal and gas BBQs.  We were able to revoke this guidance recently, but we  thank all members for adhering to it. 

This will be my final blog as Centre Chair as I have taken to decision not to stand for re-election.   Thank you to those who have supported me during the last 11 months; I very much appreciate it. 

Huge thank you to all those who have put their nomination forms in  -  I am delighted that we will have a ‘small but perfectly formed’ Committee nominated into office at the 2026 AGM.  I am sure that all Derbyshire Centre members will join me in wishing the new Committee well.
