Committee Chatterbox - Bakewell Carnival Rally

Since our last blog we have held 3 rallies.  'Scorching' Shireoaks with 19 units, 'Breezy' Bakewell Showground with 50 units (staying 2, 3 and 4 days) and 'Baking' Buxton Club Site with 19 units.  In addition, we had an invitation to the Central Division Friendship Rally at Bitteswell, which was well attended.  It's fantastic to see such good numbers on the rally field and summer is finally here.

On behalf of the Committee I wanted to thank everyone involved in the Bakewell Carnival Rally.   

The theme, as voted on the facebook page, was Top of the Pops.  This gave a wide scope for decorating the float with vinyl records, pop star posters, glitterballs, balloons, blow up instruments etc.  There was also wide range of outfits on display, with some dogs even getting dressed up! 

It has been a long time since the Centre entered a float into a carnival, so we cannot thank everyone involved enough. From the support we were given on the day decorating the float, support from members dressing up and walking with the float and from those that cheered us on, as if we were famous, as we walked through Bakewell.  It was a very special day.

We are unable to book the Showground for the rally next year, but please support us up at the rally site at Ashford in the Water!

Before I sign off, just another reminder that we will need a new Secretary at the next AGM to ensure the future of the Centre.  Please have a think if you would like to put yourself forward for this role.  The key tasks are surrounding the administration of the Centre Committee meetings (all held on-line), collation of and responding to correspondence, ensuring that the AGM notices and arrangements are carried out appropriately and generally supporting the administration of the Centre.  If anyone is interested in this role, please contact me or our current Secretary, Ant for a chat.
